ABOUT THE BOOK

Title: The Best Intentions
Series: The Huntresses #1
Author: Sarah M. Eden
Publisher: Covenant Communications
Release Date: November 21, 2022
Genre: Clean & Wholesome Romance/Historical/Regency

In the eyes of London Society, Gillian Phelps is suitable enough. Though the ton whispers about her change of residence, any speculation remains just that: ballroom gossip. No one—not even the other Huntresses, the group of ladies she calls her dearest friends—knows that she is harboring a devastating family secret. Gillian has become adept at hiding the reality of her circumstances, but the close quarters of a house party will test her ability to conceal the crushing truth. And with so many people to deceive, the late arrival of another guest is a most unwelcome surprise.

Despite his standing as a gentleman of the ton, in truth, Scott Sarvol possesses little more than two debt-riddled estates. When an opportunity arises to survey one of his properties, he travels north, only to find himself an unwitting guest at Artemis Jonquil’s house party. He is warmly welcomed by all—except the aloof Miss Gillian Phelps. But when Scott proves himself unexpectedly helpful in a crisis, his acquaintance with Gillian shifts from wariness to something warmer. As both her charade and her feelings for Scott deepen, Gillian realizes that the truth could spell not only a devastating fall from Society but also a shattered heart.

MY REVIEW

The Best Intentions
by Sarah M. Eden
Book 1 in the Huntresses series
Rating: 3/5

As someone who is a big fan of the author, I was actually a little disappointed by this story. I found it enjoyable but not as much as the other books I’ve read from her. I don’t know if it was the main characters or the plot but the story did not grab my attention the way other books from the author had. There is a certain sweetness to the book that is lovely and endearing but overall, I came away from the story unsatisfied and wanting more. I will definitely continue to read more books from the author and maybe you will have a different opinion about the story from me.

The cover is gorgeous as always. The characters were sweet and supportive but maybe lacked some of the flavor that I have come to expect from the author. The plot felt weak to me. Do I want to read more about the Huntresses? Absolutely. But will I reach for this book again? Probably not.

My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

My Review

Sundown

by Susan May Warren

Book 3 in the Sky King Ranch series

Rating: 4/5

Such a fun conclusion to this series! It’s full of romance, action, and adventure that will make you keep turning the pages. I do think it probably needs to be read after the first two books. They are also worth reading so I highly recommend them too.

First, the cover is gorgeous. All of the covers in this series are beautiful.

Second, the story kept my interest and sucked me in from the very beginning.

Third, the clean romance between the two main characters was great. Such fleshed out characters that are relatable.

Fourth, the author always manages to weave in her faith with power moments of truth. Such a great addition to the story.

Highly recommend if you enjoy Christian romantic suspense that is entertaining and action-packed!

My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.
